Hello, good people of Rockaway—and those who only wish they were here.

After what felt like the first sunny Saturday of the year, the week that followed was one long heat advisory with temperatures hitting the triple digits in NYC. By Tuesday, our beaches hit absolute capacity with every square inch of sand covered, the water looking less like an ocean and more like a wave pool at an amusement park.

Personally, I romanticize these days, for me it’s Rockaway giving Amalfi Coast… if the Amalfi Coast had Nutcrackers and chopped cheeses.

After all this sun, we’re back to regular weekend programming…

(Don’t totally freak out, if you look at the actual precipitation, it looks like much less rain than this foreboding weather report. Let’s get out there.)

The Weekend Surf Report from Dusty Sheppard:

Friday Morning (you’ve already missed it if you’re reading it now) looks like a good time to target. Will get messier as the day goes on so get out early.

Saturday swell swings south and hangs around. Looks like it could be a fun surf day with light onshore winds. Hopefully some cleaner sets roll in for us!

Sunday right now looks like the swell will still hang around, with offshore winds in the morning making for a good time. Winds will head west throughout the day as the swell drops.

WEEKEND EVENTS

THURSDAY (YESTERDAY):

Sal y Lima the new taco and tequila bar where the old Epstein's dive once was finally opened (!!!) after seemingly a decade of construction.
